Opening in 1879 on donated farm land, the Insane Asylum opened to provide care during a time that treatment for mental health was unknown. This slideshow is shown at the beginning of a tour here at the museum, followed by exploring the former hospital Superintendents home filled with artifacts and things used day to day in the hospital.
